Kutta, in conjunction with researchers at the Arizona State University (ASU) Polytechnic Institute, was awarded a Phase I (2007) and Phase II (1st quarter 2008) Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) contract to develop an innovative two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) visualization tool for incident commanders. This novel tool provides incident commanders from multiple disciplines (i.e. fire, police, CIA, FBI, FEMA, etc) with the ability to visualize first responders as they traverse multi-storied structures. The tool also provides personnel with the ability to annotate the incident scene by simply dragging and dropping standard DHS symbology (e.g. fire, smoke, enemy) on a comprehensive display in a geo-referenced 2D and 3D environment. The tool also comes with easy to use sketching options that allow an incident commander to edit the 3D structure in real-time (e.g. delete/add wall) and extrude a 3D model from scratch in a matter of seconds. Unique functionality of the developed system is highlighted as follows:
